Genre: Romantic Drama
Running: Approx 2 hours 20 minutes
Review:
While the 2018 hit film "Dhadak" gave Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor a place in the hearts of the audience, "Dhadak 2" tries to carry forward this legacy. This time the lead roles are played by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri, who come to the fore through a strong social love story.
The story of the film is woven in the backdrop of a small town, where casteism, social discrimination and family conservatism are still alive. Siddhant belongs to a lower caste family, while Tripti is the daughter of an influential political family. The chemistry between the two looks very natural and this is the soul of the film.
Performance:
Siddhant Chaturvedi has won the hearts of the audience by showing depth in his emotional scenes. Tripti Dimri's acting is also very impressive - her eyes say a lot without dialogue. Both actors have played a sensitive subject with great honesty.
Direction and screenplay:
Shashank Khaitan has tried to fit the film into a commercial framework, but at times it seems that he could not go deep into social issues. The balance of romance and drama in the story is right, but clichés are also visible in some parts.
Music:
Ajay-Atul's music once again touches the heart. Songs like "Tera Naam..." and "Kacchi Mitti" touch the emotions of the audience. The background score also improves the emotional depth of the story.
Technical aspects:
The cinematography is very beautiful. The camera has captured the streets of a small town, fields and love drenched in rain very well. The editing could have been a little tight, especially in the second half.
Weaknesses:
The script of the film feels dated at places, and there was scope to touch upon a serious topic like casteism in more depth. Some viewers might feel the lack of it when comparing it to "Sairat" or the first "Dhadak".
Final Conclusion:
"Dhadak 2" once again gives the audience a glimpse of the walls between love and society. Though it is not as revolutionary as the first part, the performance of the new pair, great music and some emotional moments definitely make it worth watching.1 Are you a movie lover?
